How to Choose a Boudoir Photographer
If you’re thinking about doing a boudoir photoshoot, you might be wondering where to start.
You might not even realize it, but choosing the right boudoir photographer for you, can make or break your overall experience and the quality of your photos.
I’ve outlined the most important things to consider when you’re choosing a boudoir photographer with this in mind!
Choose a boudoir photographer that you can trust
This is one of the most important factors when deciding on a boudoir photographer.
You are going to have intimate portraits done and you need to trust that your photographer has your best interest in mind and will respect you.
It’s a sad but true fact that there are people out there who will take advantage of vulnerable situations.
Protect yourself by doing your homework, looking into and getting a feel for anyone you might potentially hire as a photographer.
Ask questions about their process and their privacy policies. Get referrals and read reviews.
Please, take care of yourself and make sure you trust your photographer!
Choose a boudoir photographer that makes you feel comfortable
Unless you’ve already done a ton of boudoir sessions, chances are you’re gonna feel a little nervous going into it.
All the more reason you need to feel comfortable around your photographer!
And the location for your photoshoot.
My goal for every session is to create a space and place where you can relax and just be.
My studio is private, meaning there will not be other sessions going on or other people in and out during your photoshoot.
My team is all female and the makeup/hairstylist doesn’t stay for the photoshoot unless you request it.
Choose a professional boudoir photographer
This is important!
What do I mean by a “professional” boudoir photographer?
Professional means they know lighting and posing and how to use it to flatter YOU.
Professional means that are a legit business!
Not just some guy with a camera that who knows where images could end up.
Professional means they have policies and systems in place to respect the private nature of your photos.
Professional means that they conduct themselves as a professional.
Do not leave your intimate portraits in the hands of an amateur!
Choose a boudoir photographer that matches your style
When you’re searching for a boudoir photographer, make sure you check out portfolios and websites.
Look for consistency in their work.
If you see a great photo here and there but there’s not a lot of consistency you can’t be sure of your end result.
You want to book a photographer who’s work is high quality and that also appeals to your style.
If you want a boho bride look, make sure you find a photographer that works in a similar style.
I use mood boards throughout the planning process to make sure we’re on the same page as far as what you have in mind and the end result of your portraits.
Planning everything out ahead of time takes care of ensuring you will have exactly what you want!
Even if you don’t choose me to be your photographer…
